What is ROM therapy? Therapy that improves all the kinetic-dynamic motions of the spine.
How does the Antalgic-Trak perform ROM? While the spine is distracted, the doctor or therapist unlocks and gently moves any one of the multi-axis articulating sections through the particular "range-of-motion."
Amazing!
Spinal ranges include A/P flexion-extension, lateral flexion, and most important, axial rotation. A healthy spine must seamlessly perform all without pain.
Antalgic-Trak offers two ROM techniques:
♥ 1. KDM (Kinetic Decompression Mobilization) is a "range of motion" technique that involves locking the articulating sections into a variety of postures during the decompression cycling (Prepositioned Decompression). Each series of postures enables the pull forces to reach into areas of the spine that basic decompression misses.
♥ 2. Range of Motion Therapy: Classified as a therapeutic procedure. It is performed while the spine is suspended in mild static traction (Mobilizing ROM Decompression). It is a "one on one" attended therapy that involves moving the articulating sections of the instrument to improve spinal ROM and flexibility.
Traction is different than decompression:
What is Traction? ♥ Application of spinal elongating pull-forces to separate vertebrae and unload the disc. It may be applied in a static or intermittent form.
What is Decompression? ♥ Applying spinal traction pull-forces in a precise and specific repetitive logarithmic pattern. Spinetronics logarithmic pattern is called the A-T 631 Step Pattern. Simply stated, our logarithmic pattern loads the spine and unloads the spine in "stepped" increments. The "stepped" pattern eliminates spasm. A typical 30 minute session has 18 pull-release cycles.
What is Sequential Spinal Elongation© (SSE)? ♥ SSE is a "poundage ramp up" and/or a poundage ramp down" during the session (Sessions comprise of a group of cycles). A typical session may begin with a low poundage and build to a larger poundage. Or it may begin small, increase to a large, then reduce back downward to a small. You create the patterns. SSE goes beyond decompression by continuing the elongation process after compressions are removed. The continued elongation provides overcorrection. Overcorrection enables the spine to settle down to a longer lasting more resilient normal.
What is "Dwell Time?" ♥ Dwell times refer to holding times. At the end of the pull phase, the "pull dwell" refers to how long the pull poundage is held. Conversely, at the end of the release phase, the "release dwell" refers to how long the release of poundage is held. Dwell times can be modified any time before or during treatment.
What is a Cycle? ♥ One pull phase and one release phase would constitute one "cycle."
What is Spinal Acclimation? ♥ Before ROM or KDM treatment can begin, the spine needs to be acclimated. Acclimation is done by administering one week of "basic" straight axial traction or decompression. This process stimulates physiologic changes that enhance spinal elasticity and circulation as well as reduced muscle spasm and inflammation. It prepares the spine for articulation.
How many degrees can the articulating sections move? Our patent-pending 10-way multi-axis sections allow for nearly unlimited positioning. The adjustable linkages can simulate “ball and socket” movement andcan be locked in any position. ♥ 180 degrees of axial rotation: This important feature gives us the ability to rotate the spine. Rotational decompression creates a unique torsional stretching that can hydrate tissues in a circumferential pattern. Basic decompression can't do this. When you apply gentle traction with rotation it draws the disc perimeter inwards.
♥ 70 degrees of A/P flexion extension: This feature adjusts the angles of lordosis and kyphosis. A/P flexion-extension shifts the path of the pull forces through different levels of the spine. In the lumbar spine, it can provide a unique knee-chest posture for treating spondylolisthesis.
♥ 80 degrees of right and left lateral flexion: This feature enables the user to address vertebral wedge compressions, lateral/medial disc bulges and herniations. It also enables posture adjustments for tortipelvis or torticollis.
♥ 8 inches of anterior and posterior spinal translation: This feature enables the doctor to shift the entire cervical or lumbar column anteriorly or posteriorly and accommodate hyperkyphotic, hyperlordotic, spondylolisthetic or tall and short patients. | |
